The
Xtreme Dragbike Association (XDA) takes
motorcycle drag racing back to Virginia Motorsports
Park (VMP) for the Inaugural Superbike
Showdown on August 24-26, 2018.
This season XDA will payout over $200,000 in purse money
along with a $120,000 contingency fund that spans all classes.
XDA’s guaranteed purses bring out the big dogs that
are ready to put on a show. With only two events left in
the season, and temperatures starting to drop, these are
the events to see records crushed and low ETs. Next
weekend the best of the best will put it all on the line
as they chase points for a championship finish. There may
be 700 entries, but only nine eight competitors will be
able to call themselves a champion at the end of the season.
Orient
Express Pro Street
Class Points Leader – Chris Connelly
If
you want to see six-second Pro Street passes, come to
VMP because XDA has them! Our last event featured half
the field in the sixes, and we are sure that will be exceeded
as several of our six-second racers struggled with technical
problems at the last event.
But
the six-second passes aren’t the only things to
be watching for. With the top four in points only separated
by one round of points, this event is going to set the
tone for the championship at the final event in September
that will feature a 32-bike field for the first time in
XDA history.
DME
Racing Real Street
Class
Points Leader – Spencer Claycomb
Eddie
Chapman needs to show up with kryptonite in the DME Racing
Real Street class. His rival Spencer Claycomb has an eighty-two
point lead on him, and if he’s not put down early,
Claycomb will clinch his first professional championship.
HTP
Performance Grudge
The
HTP Performance Grudge class continues to grow with every
event. There may not be any times on the board, but it’s
easy to spot who is fast and who is just faking. When
you enter Grudge, not only do you run with every Pro session
all weekend, you also get the best-prepped racing surface
available to grudge racers in the country. Show up, put
your best tune-up in the bike and show us your riding
skills.
And
with the Superbike Showdown, the "Running of the
Bulls" returns to Saturday night’s line-up.
Pro Extreme and Pro Nitrous will run with a $10K payout
for each class. Get your money out and get entered or
just start practicing your excuses to the mirror, because
the internet mob has heard them all. Who is hungry for
a race with a real payday. Limited spots are available,
sign up now and reserve yours at www.xdaracing.com/bulls.
Vance
& Hines 4.60
Class Points Leader – Michael Thyen
This
class offers a $3,000 payday to the winner along with
another $4,000 paid out in qualifying to the 8 bikes that
participate in the shootout. No racer has doubled up to
take home a $7K payday, yet. Richard Gadson is only three
points behind first place and will be looking to gain
ground with ‘Crusher’ next weekend on the
660’ battleground.
The FBR Shop 5.60
Class Points Leader – Jeremy Teasley
Jeremy
Teasley leads The FBR Shop 5.60 index class by a good
margin. At the last Virginia event, Teasley came in with
only a twenty-two point lead. He continues to gain on
his opponents now holding a seventy-four point lead over
number two Boo Brown.
Shinko Tires Crazy 8s
Class Points Leader – Duane Jackson
This
ultra-competitive category of Shinko Tires Crazy 8s boasts
the best of the best in the top ten of points. Duane Jackson
leads the points by a thin margin that can quickly be
overtaken with only two events left in the season. And
with sportsman heavy hitters on his tail, he would have
to stay a round in front of Teasley, Claycomb, Brown,
Lee, and Fair every race to hold onto the championship
spot. That’s not an easy group to keep down. Don’t
miss a moment of action as these guys roll into the water
box at VMP already looking over at their opponent before
the bulbs even drop.
Mickey
Thompson Tires Top Sportsman
Class Points Leader – Wilson Burkhead
If
your bike can run an 8.40 or faster, Mickey Thompson Tires
Top Sportsman is the class you’ll want to jump in.
Not only will you compete against the quickest ET bikes
at the track, but you also have a chance at taking home
the biggest payout of the weekend. The winner now takes
home a $3,000 payout, but they also advance back into
Pro ET for a chance at a second win for a potential $6,000
payout in one day. James Farmer made a big move in points
at the last event with a runner-up finish and will be
back with a real shot at the championship next weekend.
MPS
Racing Pro ET
Class Points Leader – Dale Hamilton
The
MPS Racing Pro ET points leader, Dale Hamilton has taken
two wins this season and proves to be building momentum
as the season goes on. He has a thirty-two point lead
over number two, and wants this championship! Brian Guarino,
Derrick Milbourne, and Mike Schulz have also led the points
at some point this season, showing how quickly a bad day
can send you down the leaderboard.
