We
came to Old Bridge Township Raceway Park
in Englishtown, NJ on Saturday and Sunday, September 8th
and 9th for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series
Divisional. In attendance were Top Dragster,
Top Sportsman, Comp, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street,
Super Stock and Stock. The turnout
of cars was huge! It looked like a National event. We shot
a ton of photos to try to give as many racers as possible
some coverage. We also focused on the early rounds on Sunday,
again to give the most racers some coverage. This piece
will be 600 photos, so racers please be patient because
we'll have to do this in four parts! Now let's get on with
it! |

When
we arrived at the track on Saturday, these were the conditions:
wet, but the rain had stopped. |
Super
Stock racer Jamie Schoenly figured it was clear enough to
drop the gate and release the Maverick from its crate. |
|
|
Lots
of water still everywhere. |
In
my travels I ran into an old friend: that's racer Mike Calabro
and his son Michael, Jr. |

Hey,
the sun's out! |
The
makes Super Street racer Pat Doherty happy! |

Racers
started bringing their cars out of dry-bernation, like the
Stockers of John Leach... |
...and
Mike Quarterone. |
|
I've
met Top Sportsman racer Bill Janke a few times. He's a
very nice guy and a class-act. And he bracket races a
door car at over 190 MPH. Pretty cool.

Don't
let your dragsters become hot and bothered. Keep them cool
and dry with their own personal canopy. |

So
it's going to be one of those days. No rain, then lots of
rain. Like now. Put the cars away! |
ATI
Performance Products was on the property with their trailer,
and their DragPak Challenger Stocker. |

These
are some hard-core fans right here. They drove down from
Connecticut hoping to see the Alcohol classes. Despite their
disappointment at not having Alcohol at this event, they
vowed to stay all day and enjoy the rest of the classes.

Sun's
out! Now it seems like we're catching a big window of dry
weather, so the track prep gets underway. |
