How
about the rear-engine, Buick 340-powered C/D of Don
Eckel III, or the front-engine,Chevy 385-powered
A/ND of Brian Darcy. |

Back
in the pits, Dale Creasy's team was hard
at work getting his Fuel Funny Car ready for Round 1. |
You
saw a starting line shot of Ken Miele's Cobra

The
Sportsman racers all work just as hard as the Pros, like
driver Frank Schuster and the Terenzio
Racing TA/FC team...
|
|

...and
team-of-1 Super Stock racer Brian Stianchi
from Edison, NJ. |
Stock
and Super Stock on deck in the pits... |

...while
Funny Cars are on deck in the lanes.

|
|
Like
Jim Head's... |
...and
Kalitta Motorsports' Jeff Arend-driven
DHL entry. |
|
|
Ashley
Force-Hood is in there; I swear. |
NHRA
brought their own bungee-jump tower to the lanes so drivers
could pass the time during oil-downs. |

was a great site at a national event: that's Phil
Burkhart Jr. in the black shirt. He was at Maple
Grove driving the Boninfante Fuel Funny Car. I spoke with
Phil and he's a real class-act; I hope we see more of
him at future events.
