Bruce Cooke On Location

February 2015

Our friend and fellow racer Bruce Cooke was on hand at the IHRA Summit Pro-Am event at Immokalee Regional Raceway, having made the trip from Michigan. He was kind enough to share some of the photos he took at the event, and kind enough to wear his Dragtime News t-shirt.

Thanks to Bruce for contributing this On Location report from the event.

From Bruce:

"The Immokalee 1/8th mile track was a runway at the airport.
The owner, Ralph Hester, and manager, Thomas Hester, maintain a remarkable website and Facebook page with lots of information.

I enjoyed the spectator experience at Immokalee, walking through the parked motorhomes and open trailers and cars in preparation stages. The staging lanes easily hold 50 cars.

Restrooms and concession stand are clean and adequate for the crowd. The PA system and lighting and timing results are superb. I appreciated the 1/8th mile format with good seat locations and excellent visibility from both ends of the track. Index races are pretty cool and exciting over an 1/8th mile!"
