It was another hot weekend of racing on the track in Thunder Valley as Fun Ford Weekend presented by Roush Yates, JE Pistons and Joe Gibbs Driven came to a close with some spectacular final-round match-ups on the drag strip and some outstanding Ford and Mercury vehicles in the car show area.

In the Fast Ford class, Will McKay from Rockingham, NC, piloted his Ford Thunderbird to a win over John Meany from Pisgah Forest, NC to take the win with a 7.80 effort at 88.07 mph. Bristol’s own C.J. Elsea drove his 1973 Mustang into the Quick Ford finals before being bested by Richard Newman for the title. Danny Cole from Newland, NC and his 1972 Mustang took the Street Ford category by running 110.72 mph with an elapsed time of 11.788. Justin Pierce, Elizabethton, TN and his ’88 Thunderbird finished in the runner-up slot with a 106.02 mph/12.892 ET effort. Butch Chowan from Copley, OH made a single run in his ’76 Mustang to capture the Nostalgia Funny Car title. Chowan traveled the strip at 140.68 mph with an 8.03 ET. Other winners:
