Friday - Sunday, June 9-11, 2017

Welcome to our photo coverage of the NHRA Summernationals. held June 8th - 11th, 2017 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. We'll be starting our visit with Friday, June 9th. What a day! There were lots and lots of Sportsman racers on the property so as usual we focused most heavily on them, although we also included the pros, too. The big treat was seeing fellow Englishtown bracket racers being a part of the event. The top 8 points in Pro ET and ET Motorcycle were invited to compete; that was awesome! Thanks to track manager John Hedenburg for making that happen.

NHRA provided us with access to the starting-line photo area for the whole weekend (thank you, NHRA!), so as a result we got some great up-close shots of the cars. By the time Sunday rolled around we had more than enough Sportsman coverage so we concentrated on the opening ceremonies and first round of Top Fuel and Funny Car. Then we headed back to the office to start sorting through all of the photos. We hope you like the coverage and the amount of space we devote to the Sportsman racers. Here we go!

When we arrived, Super Gas was in the lanes for Round 2. There's the Lucky's Camaro of Pete Luciano.
It's the Mac Attack of one of the nicest guys around, Mr. Mac Starks.

Dan Northrop and Jake Barbato.
Super Stock is also in the lanes for Round 2. Here's Tim Fletcher.

Here's your #1 qualifier in Super Stock, David Barton in the 2014 FSS/D Mustang.

Ed Newton in the sharp, 70s Pro Stock-looking Monza.
Jeffrey Bardekoff from Commack, NY in the '69 Barracuda.

Super Stock, Round #2: Bill Kennedy flies high in the GT/MA Firebird. He's leaving first against...

...Ed Newton in the SS/AX Monza. Newton won the 'Tree with a .013 to a .025 but comes up short at the stripe as Kennedy went dead-2.
Don Belles Jr. over here in the FGT/B Mustang and...
...Bill Marshall in the GT/GA Camaro. Marshall leaves first with .102 light and takes the win as Belles goes -.042 red. Ouch.

The final pair in Super Stock is a heads-up GT/HA (10.50) pairing of Pat Glade over here and Dean Mowery over there. Glade had the 'Tree but Mowery had the power for the win.
Super Gas, Round 2: Pete Luciano pulls into the beams.
